Students from the Eğirdir Faculty of Fisheries at Isparta University of Applied Sciences (IUAS) organized a comprehensive cleaning event at Lake Eğirdir on April 29, 2026. As part of the event, students collected abandoned "ghost" fishing gear—such as nets, traps, and fishing lines—along with various wastes that had accumulated in coastal areas where water levels had receded due to drought. The cleaning effort was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Yıldız Bolat, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habil Uğur Koca, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet CİLBİZ. Guided by their professors, students turned their theoretical knowledge into practice, taking a significant step to rid Lake Eğirdir of the "hidden burdens" threatening its ecosystem. Through this meaningful work, students demonstrated their active role in the conservation of natural resources and sustainable water management. The event also highlighted the importance of leaving a cleaner and healthier Lake Eğirdir for future generations. This initiative by the IUAS Eğirdir Faculty of Fisheries is regarded as an exemplary movement for raising environmental awareness and preserving the lake's ecological balance.
